I am looking for a single drive with very good sustained write performance. Read performance isn't as important, as the drive's function will be having very low compression video being saved to it in real time.

Is there a particular model or series that stands out among the rest for this? It needs to use the SATA interface.

Also, when formatting the drive should I specify the largest Allocation Unit Size, 64k? I'm not sure what default suggested is, but the average filesize on this disk will be 1-4 gigs in size, and nothing lower than 100 megabytes. Would this also improve write performance?

I'd like to keep it under $100 unless it will make a very significant jump in performance to spend more
