Let me pose to this question to the community for an opinion since my gut is saying no but my mind is saying yes. On sunday I sold a broken laptop I had on ebay for approx $75. I get an e-mail from ebay this morning saying that the person is no longer a registered user because they could not confirm the address or failure to complete recent transactions. They have zero feedback on ebay. But now i get into work and check paypal and I have received funds from the individual and their account on paypal is confirmed and verified. I doubt I can file a non paying bidder form to get my ebay fees back since the guy did pay. I knew i shouldn't have used ebay to begin with but where else can i sell old broken laptops?

how long should i typically wait? Also what should i say to the buyer when i don't ship immediately? Just tell them the transaction is currently pending because ebay has put a hold on it.

Ebay/Paypal is retarded.

Say if you have both hacked Paypal and Ebay account and both are from different person. You can actually use Ebay, purchased a BUY IT NOW or Win the Auction then use the process on ebay to pay for the auction. While using ebay to complete the transaction, you can type in ANY address and name and it will appeared CONFIRMED to the Seller's paypal receipt and the last step is use the hacked paypal account to pay for it without adding on a shipping address.

Right now, if it does appeared to have a confirmed address, you are legally protected by paypal. So you can take the chance and ship it out and if there is any issues in the future, just tell them you are protected by shipping it to a confirmed address.

Don't rely on E-Bay or Paypal to protect you ... if you get ripped off you could easily get the shaft.

Also remember the first rule of selling online: If you have to ask if its a scam, it is.

that's the problem typically usually i can spot a scam by all the usual signs. Ship to other addresses, out of country, money orders and stuff like that. The only scam I could see this being would be a possible hacked ebay and paypal account. I sent the buyer an e-mail saying I am going to ship the item restricted delivery (meaning I need a specific persons name and the package can only be sent to that person). So i am still waiting to hear back from them after that e-mail.

I didn't know that was possible.
