Suspending a PC Desktop

Has anybody had any success suspending a PC so that all the fans are off and noise is minimal? The best I have been able to do, is to get the monitor to suspend but I definately can hear fans running.

My system configuration is as follows:

P4 1.6a @ 2.2
Asus P4T533-C motherboard
512 MB Rdram
LeadTek Ti4200 Vid Card NVidia 28.32 Driver
Soundblaster Live OEM
Western Digital WD 600-BB 60 Gig hard drive
Maxtor 30 Gig Hard Drive
