Hi all,

I recently built the following system (pretty much based on the jan 06 mid-high end buyer's guide)

DFI Lanparty NF4 Ultra-D
Venice 3200+
OCZ Gold EL PC4000 3-4-4-8 dual channel 1GBx2
(single) EVGA 6800GS 256 PCIe
Maxtor Diamondmax 250 SATA2 (firmware updated to avoid nforce4 issues)
Antec SonataII (with a decent clean 450W)
Zalman CNPS9500

On cold boot or hard reset, the monitor fails to recieve a signal via the DVI port about nine times out of ten. Both the analog and Svideo send out a garbled mess when this happens, but at least i am able to get into the bios. Once i reboot enough times and the monitor does get a signal, the system loads XP fine and is rock solid, and i can warm reset a million times without a problem. But once i hard reset or shut the system off, it's a crapshoot whether it'll come up again.

I've tried (all without effect)
- different LCD monitors
- clearing CMOS, and safe boot jumpers
- using the DIMMs in either the yellow or orange slots
- with and without the Maxtor
- both stock speeds and overclocked (stable 2.5 @ 1.4ish) don't make a difference

I haven't changed the memory timings yet. System temps are nice and cool, but the EVGA still has its stock HSF.

The only thing that seems to make a difference is if I unplug the PS, take out the card, and re-seat it. No fit issues, yes the 6 pin molex is plugged in, and all the power connectors on the mobo are plugged in (24-pin, 4-pin, even the HD and FD power connectors on the lanparty).

I threw out my old PCI video cards, so I don't have anything to narrow it down to the 6800GS for sure. And the kicker is it's inconsistent.

Any suggestions? Should I just try to RMA it based on this?
