Suspect beaten after showing porn to kids

DALLAS ? About a dozen residents of a Dallas neighborhood beat a man after reports that he had been showing pornographic pictures to children on a playground, police said.

Brandon Scott Burke, 20, showed up Wednesday at an Oak Cliff apartment complex and was alleged to have shown a magazine with pictures of naked women to some of the children playing there, police said.


When one of the mothers saw him and asked Burke what he was doing, he tried to run and the woman started screaming, said Elizabeth Williams, the mother of another child. According to a police report, Burke said about 15 men "jumped him and hit him repeatedly on the face with their fists." He suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene, police said.

At least four children ? two boys and two girls ranging from 7 to 9 years old ? saw the nude pictures, police said.

Mieshia Wesley, a baby sitter for Williams, said she wasn't surprised so many people rushed to help. She estimated that a crowd of up 50 gathered.

"Everybody knows everybody around here," Wesley said.

Burke was arrested on suspicion of harmful display to a minor, a Class A misdemeanor.

Im not advocating or defending what this guy did, BUT what if he was 17 or the kids in their teens? What if this "20 year old" had the sexual maturity of a 10 year old? You're right... i'm sure if you're kid was sitting with this guy you'd politely ask him to stop showing your child graphic pictures while at the playground as it is inappropriate and not civil...... w/e

I don't know if you have kids... I have a little girl, and if some sick fvck like this was going around showing her some magazines of ppl naked i'd be pretty freaking mad. Now, I'm not saying that I, myself would commence the beatdown nor would I have joined in... but I ain't gonna try and stop it either... UNLESS it's obvious that he is mentally ill. Most likely though I would have called the police and held him there and had assitance in holding him down until police arrive and handle it.

I myself wouldn't feel like having assault charges pressed filed against me, nor would I want my daughter to see me behave violently.... I have too much to lose.

Your post only reinforces my first even though you are attempting to defend your reaction. I dont have kids, never will, dont want them, and it doesnt matter. One important as fsck all thing you are forgettnig is context. There are just so many things that make me sick when i think of people like you that i dont know where to begin. I would bet dimes to dollars taht youre a religious man. Anyway, here a FEW things you dont know, yet you are willing to make STRONG conclusions in their absence:

1. content of the "nudie" pics (care to define that?)
2. intent of showing them
3. curiosity of children
4. admiration kids show (children look up to elders and they treat older kids VERY differently than kids their own age AND their parents--authority, something you should look into Franco).
5. depth and breadth of sexual knowledge of the average 7-9 year old
6. maturity level of the children in question (and the 20 year old)
... ad nauseum.

Yet, lacking all this and more you and your ilk would lynch this guy? Thats just fscking sick man.

Nowhere in the article did it mention that they asked to see the magazine (I mean seriously, wtf?) or that they were related (a double wtf?). What kind of seven year old asks random people "jessicaalba nudez plz" and what kind of older brother would show such things? Don't bitch about assumptions when you make ones like those. HOWEVER, would everyone in this country stop freaking out about nudity! Man, it's getting just stupid. From the description above, I'm assuming these were NUDE (non-sexual) images, which to me hardly makes it pornography.

You sound like those people who freaked at that magazine recently that had a nursing mother on the cover (just a close up of the baby and a boob). The people who "shredded it" and were outraged their son/husband might see it was AMAZING to me. Grow up and stop being so repressed.

This country's Christian and the extremist Islamic have more in common than they'd like to admit.

If you can't look at a naked picture without getting turned on, or worrying about who may, that says more about you than anything else.

It's one thing for a family to allow their children to view such magazines (I have nothing against it) but it's something entirely different for some piece of shit jackass teenager to think he knows better than the parents of the kids.
