Wasabi tastes like dirt. Maybe I just had bad wasabi. 😕

You had bad wasabi. It should taste kinda like horseradish on steroids.

I'll take you out for some really good sushi the next time you hit Atlanta.
Oh please. Hit Seattle, then I'll show you some good sushi. 😀

(I usually just put the wasabi directly on, but I love wasabi)

Well, duh. I've had the real deal in SanFran as well, but there are actually a couple of places here that are quite good.....all things considered. 😉

koh cho jahng - korean red chili paste

Cho Jahng is different than Koh Choo Jahng. Cho Jahng is a mixture of Koh Choo Jahng along with some other stuff. Cho Jahng is more of a liquid substance rather than Koh Choo Jahng which is rather pasty.

What's your favorite sushi joint here?
Nakato. It's spendy, but generally very good....especially if you sit at the bar and chat with your chef a bit. If you're pleasant they'll often cut some choice stuff for you "just because", which I think is cool.

Conversely, if you're like the couple we sat next to last time who kept trying to light cigs in between bits of sushi, were unbelievably loud and drunk, asked their chef his name and then made fun of it, and ultimately walked out on their tab.......you'll probably get the stuff they were saving for the cat. I hope they enjoyed their food poisoning the next day. 😉

It's on Cheshire Bridge near the intersection of Piedmont. Just make sure you sit at the bar if you want sushi. Chit-chat with your chef and you'll get good stuff.

The steakhouse half of Nakato is also good if you need to entertain a group sometime.
