Come over to my house - my mom makes the best sashimi you can ever imagine! The best I've tasted ever and I go out to sushi a lot (don't know why, might as well taste my mom's cookings :))... seriously though, you might want to try the little mom and pop sushi shops... don't give into the hype that is TODAI.. It's really rag-tag when compared to what you can really get from a master's hand of sushi :)

Mmm... I can sure go for some of those tiny little orange egg things right now... yummy

orange county is near LA, right? there's a place in i think thousand oaks (or thereabouts) called Sushi Nozawa. it's run by an old dyed-in-the-wool japanese man that has a really hard gaze and is supposedly ruthless to customers who ask for such disrespectful fare as a california roll. :) seriously, it's strictly very traditional, and very expensive (my meal was $60 but you can eat well for $35, roughly). on the way there i was informed by my friend that Sushi Nozawa is LA's highest rated restaurant (by what authority i don't know, but that has to count for something). anyway, uh, track it down and check it out. :) it's really quite amazing.

there's a LOT of places in OC for sushi!
irvine: koto (good sushi bar!)
newport beach: kitayama
corona del mar: gen kai (also in dana point)
orange: todai (also in huntington beach, it's a buffet style place. REALLY good quality food though! i promise!)
costa mesa: i love sushi (yeah it's a corny name, but it's really good sushi!)

ok, well there's a lot more out there in orange county, these are the ones i can think of off the top of my head that are the better ones! bon apetit!

While I was studying for the MCAT, I ate sushi everyday.
My bill for the last month, about July 18 to August 17, was over $1,000.
Thats a lot of sushi!

Anytime!
I don't know why, but the studying made me crave sushi.
Everyday after my MCAT review class, we drove to a place that had $1 sushi and $2 rolls.
We have the guy make us our own roll, with tuna and some sort of roe, called masago (sp?).

Todai is good if you like quantity and somewhat quality.

Other places thats not buffet are really expensive. I would go to taiko in Irvine on walnut and university(forgot what the street changes to)(jeffery i think). Good n cheap.

Oh 1 more place. I heard but not yet experienced that there is a little restaurant on bristol and paulirino by 7/11 in costa mesa. I heard its good and always packed.

Helped this helps and not make a hole in your wallet.
