Any of you guys have an All- You-Can-Eat place by you? I go to one place thats about 45 minutes away from home. Well worth the 19.99 price and drive.

I love eel--So sweet and yummy. Salmon by the boatload when I go out, too. I like the spicy tuna and also the bagel/philly/jb rolls. The place I go to tempuras the bagel roll. So good.

Peace

It's basic but I love California rolls. Oooh and for me, I always have to get teriakyi sauce when I eat sushi and dip the sushi in. Yummm. Ok now I'm really hungry.

Salmon sashimi :)

Spider rolls, dynamite rolls, king crab rolls, toro and salmon nigiri...

Every time I go to one of the local places (there are 6 sushi shops within 2 blocks of my apartment) the waitress always says: "Uh, I think you may have ordered too much... this is a lot." To which I reply: "You say that every time I come in, and I've never left a single thing on any plate." :)

Cooked (but not fried) shrimp + avocado roll with some other veggies such as cucumber + carrot (chopped very fine, slight amount added) are my favorite. Wrapped with rice outside & covered with sesame seeds or the orange fish egg, really good :)

Afraid to eat sushi (raw fish) so haven't tried it yet. Everyone tells me it's good but I've once gotten very sick on poorly prepared fish (picked herring) so I haven't tried sushi.

I was like you once. At age 23, I took the plunge and tasted sushi/sashimi for the first time and mildly disliked it. It wasn't until the 3rd time until I fell in love with sushi. Give it a go a few times and I am quite sure you will love it.

As you can read here, the ones who try it absolutely cannot live without it. It's the 'crack' of asian food.

Spicy Tuna Roll....

Of course, I like the Cali-roll and Philidelphia Rolls as well.

Gotta say that Salmon and Tuna are my favs overall. I stay away from squid and most of the really fishy tasting varieties... I don't like to try 'new' things cause I fear nastiness... :p

Yeh, squid is slimy and not very tasty. Reminds me of paste (so I am told ;))

I would avoid mackeral if I were you, it's the fishiest of the bunch from my experience but I enjoy it too.

Man, I don't know what you're talking about...a nice squid salad or bbq whole squid is an excellent appetizer (no one around here can get squid salad right though for some reason). ooh ooh or Tako-su (octopus salad).

Another of my favorite sushi dishes that you can't find in a lot of places that I forgot to mention in my first post is box sushi. Really the only place that makes it perfectly is Ninja in New Orleans. It's fish (salmon or tuna usually), then crab salad, then rice smooshed into a square box, then removed and sliced. It's topped with roe and scallions. Absolutely delicious, but dense and filling because of the crab salad.

A nice spanish mackeral is good, too. mmm...nice skin, pleasantly fishy flavor.

I am all over the mackeral if it's prepared properly. I go to this place where it's mildly sweet and not fishy at all. Most ppl I meet are afraid of mackeral but I love it.

As for the box sushi, bring it on!!! I will check out Ninja next time I am in New Orleans. Thanks for the tip.

Seattle rolls (salmon, avocado, and cream cheese) are my favorite.

Rainbow rolls are a close second though.

Cooked squid is edible, but Ika is plain disgusting. I have yet to meet anyone who can down it without grimacing. I'm sure there are people who like it, but on the whole I would not recommend it to anyone but the adventurous. I've seen it cause vomiting.

And spanish mackeral is NOT a mackeral. It is actually a Jack, and is related to yellowtail. Real mackeral meat, such as pacific mackeral, is very dark and oily, and VERY fishy if not immediately bled, filleted, and iced after being pulled from the water. Most people refuse to eat improperly prepared mack if not smoked or heavily marinated.
