i am a complet linux noob and i have a x-shellscript file for cedaga
how do i install it? its on the desktop now i am in root

Well... The easiest way I know to deal with Cedega isn't to isntall cedega directly. It's easier that after get your account to go and download the rpm package for Point2play. You can use point2play to install multiple versions of cedega and manage your windows games.

AFAIK, P2P (point2play) is now Cedega and Cedega is now the cedega-engine. And it also costs money to buy a subscription to download Cedega (the engine). There are ways of getting the engine elsewhere than the subscriber lines, but wouldn't that be pirating?

their CVS is the only way.

Otherwise Wine project has a decent DirectX 9 support you can use to play many games. The downside is that you'd have to break the cdrom-based security protections yourself were (most of the time you install into windows, find the cd crack and copy them over to Linux, I beleive) as Cedega people license that stuff for their point2play items.
