SUSE video incompatibility

I have SUSE 6.4 but it will hang after I configure X11. I just see a blank screen.
I was thinking that maybe it was because I was using a Radeon. Or could it be it was trying to use the PCI card I have but don't have connected to a display.
I was thinking about trying SUSE 7.1, but I don't see the Radeon listed, or the Voodoo 5 actually (these are both year old widespread cards). Does anybody know what the problem might be, or how I can make this work? Please don't recommend another Linux... there must be a better answer!

SUSE 6.4 probably comes with X 3.3.6 which is too old to support Radeons. You can upgrade your X server to version 4.1.0 (currently latest), that should work with Radeon just fine. Just check Xfree86 homepage...
