I've actually used RedHat as well (and Mandrake), but didn't really like it. I missed Yast
As for Mandrake: it was nice to work with for a while, but I prefer to use some CLI tools and/or edit config files myself. Much easier than a bunch of slow GUI apps.
i like mandrake (w/o x starting up automatically), its got lots of software, naive rpm support and its user friendly in general. I dont wanna spend my time editing textfiles to get some piece of hardware to work
