SUSE Linux APIC Errors

I have installed SUSE Linux 7.2 on a dual processor Tyan motherboard with dual PIII 667s. I intend to use this as an Oracle 9i server (that's why I MUST use Suse). When I run it, it gets intermittent errors in the console log saying:

Oct 31 13:45:30 linux kernel: APIC error on CPU0: 08(04)
Oct 31 13:45:30 linux kernel: APIC error on CPU1: 08(08)

It eventually hangs up while doing the Oracle install.

I have added the "noapic" option to the LILO.conf file, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything.

Any ideas? How can I tell if the noapic thing did anything?

TIA for your assistance.

I use mandrake 8.0 with a dual celeron board (abit bp6) and I get the same type of errors, but they dont seem to affect anything, so I tend to just ignore them.

I used to get those when I used a BP6 too, I'm pretty sure they're harmless. I would think your install is hanging up for another reason.
