This is the out of the box implementation of the 2.4 kernel and KDE2. Anyone in the USA know if/when available? Suse realigned its US subsidiery and I suppose they only left one guy named Ned in the ofice to update their website because it was released in europe on the 15th of feb, but nothing here yet.

I can't find it either. Too bad, it looks like a nice distribution. It's very up to date and has a lot of nice features. I sent the webmaster an email, but who knows if I'll get a reply or not.

This has been in stores awhile. I bought it several days ago, and saw it on sale several weeks ago. Got it at CompUSA. (Minneapolis area).

Thanks, it still says its in pre-order stage at suse.com. I finally broke down and went to crapUSA and I will be damn they had it. 45 minutes in the checkout line waiting on a incompetant cashier to learn her freaking job was a high price to pay though. I despise incompetant people!

Bye the way, if someone figures out how to get TrueType working properly on this, let me know. My fonts act very strange.

Hey, the webmaster returned my email:

SuSE 7.1 is now available at selected retail stores throughout the
US such as Best Buy. SuSE 7.1 will be available in most other retail
outlets by this weekend, Feb 24/25.

You also have the option to order your copy directly from SuSE, by
calling (510) 628-3380 and pressing '2' for customer service.

In addition, our online shop has been updated, and you will be
able to order it from there.

The FTP version of SuSE 7.1 should be availble sometime in the
middle of March.

I don't understand how they can get away with not putting 7.1 on their FTP sites right away when they are selling it in stores. That seems to fly in the face of what Linux is all about. I should be able to download this as soon as it's available in stores.

edit: I guess I shouldn't bitch too much. It's a free and powerful operating system. I just with I could download it sooner.

Also, I just got another email from the webmaster saying that it will be on the ftp sites on March 15th.
