Hi ,

I dont have a DVD Burner at the moment ( Gave it to my brother ) so i need to download the network package .

Ive downloaded the boot .ISO and burned it to CD , but when i start the installation it says make sure you have Disk Labeled SuSE - CD 1 in CDROM ??

I thought this was supposed to prompt an install through the internet ? anyway i cant get past that , because it wont let me do anything until i put CD 1 in .

Has anyone installed SuSE 9.2 through the traditional network install and can help me with this ?

That site doesn't want me to read it. It defaults to German. :|

Installation

Boot from CD/floppy and at the bootpromt enter the installation source:

linux26 install=ftp://ftp_server/directory

Remember to substitute 'ftp_server' and 'directory' with the appropriate
values (e.g. install=ftp://[IP-ADDRESS]/pub/suse/i386/9.2 if you're
installing from the SUSE ftp server).

Alternatively, choose 'manual installation' and configure the network in
the installation program.

EDIT: Hopefully fixed the link. 😕

Cheers , I got past that part now , i wasent selecting network installation

Now when i select network installation it says that theres no network module loaded ?

i'm not sure of the solution to your problem. i just ran into the same thing. and i have previously installed red hat 9, ubuntu and novell linux desktop 9 on the same machine. so my NIC is supported as it has worked inside those OSes and was detected perfectly fine. if i find a solution i'll let you know. but the dvd install does work fine.

chances are you just have to load your network drivers from the list
that's what I did

the linksys drivers were hard to determine but I remember seeing what other linux distros used

I had the same trouble with a VIA Velocity NIC AND a SMC 1255TX NIC! I snagged the velocity module from VIA, put it on a disk, and told the SuSE installer to load it. The SMC card used the 'tulip' module.

Hi ,

I got my new motherboard Lanparty NF4 SLI-DR and it came with the GigaBit LAN , so i just loaded the Gigabit LAN module which was easy to find as its called "Gigabit **** Module* and it connected to the SuSE FTP .

My other motherboard was Abit AV8 and had GigaBit LAN but i dont know if it was the Marvell one because i tried loading the same GigaBit driver module for the AV8 and it didnt work.

Anyway cheers for the help 🙂
