"(CNN) ? Dance group Diversity won the television show ?Britain?s Got Talent? on Saturday night, upsetting Scottish singer and internet sensation Susan Boyle.

?The best people won,? Boyle said.

The 48-year-old church volunteer had been favored to win the show. The show winner claims 100,000 British pounds ($161,000) and will perform for Queen Elizabeth II in the Royal Variety Show."

hopefully, she'll still perform for QEII

Wonder how close it was? and why people voted for the other?

good.

Yup. Over-rated.

Yes, she can sing quite well, but so can thousands upon thousands of other people. The only reason she stuck out was because she's not attractive and everyone felt bad for judging her before she even performed.

That lady had more talent than the entire dance troupe who won.

BUT, it's not a surprise. Popularity rather than talent tends to win most of the "You Vote for the winner" type of tv contests.

This must be the highest rated, most publicized show in the world, and their amazing grand prize is $160,000? Come on. Should be a mill at least.

WTF? The lady is way more popular than the dance troupe. Most people didn't even know who she was up against.

I'd already completely forgotten about all of them until I read this thread. Oh well, I will have forgotten about them again by tomorrow. They can only push the unlikely-underdog-wows-the-crowd-feel-good-story button so many times before it starts to feel like a contrived sham.

Hahaha, serves her right.

I liked Flawless the best, haven't seen Diversity though, but Susan Boyle was overrated.

She was a sham, I'm glad she didn't win.

How was she a sham?

They dressed her down and made her look uglier. They also said that she had no previous experience, but it turns out she had a few previous recordings from many years ago which were fantastic.

From what I've read, this is not atypical for these kinds of shows.
