That's odd... this thread was bumped and I just happened to have walked out of the living room (where I was watching it) not 5 minutes ago. He may be amazing to someone who's spent 99% of their life in the city, and their only experience in "the wilderness" has been staying at a campground with vending machines, showers, and a swimming pool on premises. But, quite frankly, the situations he puts himself in are over-dramatized... at least the episode I was just watching. Bear tracks! Oh Noooooes!

He just made a comment on that show about the tracks by the stream possibly being from a black bear cub - then he said he hoped the mother bear wasn't around. That seems to be a fairly popular legend about black bears, and one he was able to use to increase the drama of the situation he was in. It's not really true though. So, it comes down to one of two things: the guy doesn't know that much about the outdoors, or the guy lies to make the show more dramatic.

How is that a legend? If you see a bear cub, there's a good chance mama bear is nearby. You're saying that like snakes, the offsprings aren't brought up by the parents?

I like the show and he seems like a nice guy but he talks like he's dumb or at least slow. In the length of the show, he tells you maybe 3 interesting facts. His mannerisms and just slurred speech makes me wonder if he's partly retarded. I am not trying to make fun of him but it's sometimes painful to watch.

Lets see how you do after several days with no food.

You are so concerned with insulting me that you don't even read what I wrote. Watch the show. Have you seen it? Really. Even when he FIRST gets dropped off, he has a speech problem. Throughout the show he reveals maybe 3 survival tips. The rest of the time he says "it's really cold here" and "I need to build a fire" and "sorry about the dew on the lens"
