Well in my defense... I didn't write the questions. Tried making changes to some of them to make it longer and clear, but our group wanted to go for short succinct questions. If you compare our survey with some of the other surveys I've seen on campus, the questions are structured pretty much the same way. Anyway, I went ahead without my group's consent and implemented some changes.
As for the reasoning for some of the questions, we are trying to get a feel for the demographics, that's why we asked about having children or not. We already have some basic... perceptions of the people in the market for this car, we just need to prove it with some statistics. Hence the question about children and a very non functional sports car for a family man.
As for the school, it's Carnegie Mellon University, not very well known for liberal arts. I wouldn't recommend this institution to anyone... so don't worry, I fully concur with you. Your kids shouldn't step foot anywhere near Pittsburgh. What a stankhole... (sorry for ticking off the people living in this region, but that's my opinion...)
