They already exist. Also, your link does not work.

Your survey sucks!

Do you even know your market? You only list 18" - 24" wheels and skip 21" wheels

So, what about 15", 16", 17" and 21" wheels (and yes they did make them)

Do you have one of the ones not listed?

I wasn't aware of 21" wheels.. i guess i can add 15-17" wheels, but i'm think more along the lines of expensive wheels.. since the security device would cost approx 500 dollars..

Why yes I do!

I have a set of 17" Superior Scoundrels (Cobra R copy's) & a set of 17" Fondmetal's

And no I would not pay $500 for a wheel locking system. Maybe if I had Davin's or Spreewheels, but those cost $8 - $12K a set!

Most 20" Chrome wheel and tire packages for SUV's are only $1,500 or less now. As tire manufacturers ramp up production prices on the tires have come down quite a bit recently!

How far away from the car would the lugnuts have to be for the theft to be detected?

The idea is that the signal strength can be modified during install to make it so that that when the lugnuts move more than a 6-12 inches out range it will trigger the alarm.

21's are arguably the biggest market since aside from trucks it's the large sized rims that most sedans and sports cars can fit in their wheel wells without custom work.

and FYI it's not custom rims.. it's aftermarket rims.

and FYI security systems exist, they just all suck very very bad.

You should look at the reliability rates for some of them/

sounds like a major pain in the ass. I don't know who would want a device that does that, and is so frickin expensive.

Insurance? My friend runs a tire/wheel shop. He said there is a company that offers insurance on aftermarket wheels. Less than $500 I would guess.

Also, what if the lugs don't go far from the vehicle? In Arizona there was a group called the Lug Nut Bandits. They would steal the rims, and leave the lugs in a smiley face on the driveway. Or a straight line. Sorta like a calling card.

Ok so I just read all the posts, and if the 6-12 inches would trigger the alarm, I can see it working.
