We are a research team at the university of connecticut business school that has been investigating the important role played by online deal forums such as AnandTech on the retailing industry. We find that individuals active in online deal forums are extremely savvy and sophisticated in their shopping patterns. Currently we are trying to understand whether there is significant incentive and activity in reselling-where significant deals obtained through online deal forums result in reselling on eBay. We request your input to complete a quick survey on this topic.

This survey should take no more than 2 minutes to complete. This is a completely anonymous survey conducted for nonprofit academic research purposes. We would be glad to share the research report once it is completed. Please send us email if you are interested in the report or have any additional comments.

I never jump on hot deals to make a profit. Only for things that I need, and sometimes for friends. I feel that if I help kill a deal, just to turn around and sell the item, I'm taking it away from a fellow forum member who might have really wanted it.

to me its too much work to do something like that. all the ebay fees and stuff it always works out to not as much profit for me... time invested taken into consideration

Bah, you guys are pansies.

Amazon had a Canon F60's on sale for $79.99 a couple of weeks ago with free shipping. I bought four and added in free 6' USB cables for each one (I get the cables for $1 a piece). They sold for:

$75
$104
$104
$128.50

Add in my shipping fee of $25 (35 lb printer) and you have some $$$. Actual shipping cost came out to around $11-15 a piece depending on zip code. eBay/PayPal fees were more than covered by the amount leftover from shipping.

And that's just a "warm" deal for me. I wak making close to $70 profit on Kodak camera and sold four Canon A60 with $90 profit each.

It doesn't take much time for me to look for deals, and it's actually fun to me.
