Surround sound on a budget

A friend of mine is looking to get a surround sound system for his small to mid size living room. Any recommendation on a quality surround sound for under $200? one's that work well for gaming would be a plus!

I bought this for my parents. You can find it at Best Buy or Target from $199 to $299. Kroger/Fred Meyers has it for $400, so dont go there. It blasts their living room while sounding very crisp. I've used a few cheap surround sound systems and this is nothing like them.

I like that set but I think it is over the price range on its own, not to mention the fact that it doesn't include a receiver/amp.

For $200 it is tough to find a decent receiver alone which is why the Onkyo system for $299 is quite a bargain.

I just don't see how that ONKYO system can be that great for that price.

craigslist a decent receaver and get this parts express speaker setup.

should be as good as any HTIB for under 400 if you get an ok receaver.
