The front two speakers are asking for 6 ? (ohms) and my rear speakers are asking for 8 ? (ohms )
My center is 6 ? (ohms )

My receiver has two settings 6? or 8 ?

What do I put it as?

that is the amount of load your speaker put on the amp

ohms law states that as resistance cuts in half power is doubled

so if the amp puts out 50w @ 8 ohms it should, theoretically, anyway, put out 100w @ 4ohms

i'm guessing what the switch does is drop the gain a bit when you set it to 6 ohms...probably to keep the amp from overheating or clipping, both are bad

 
Yeah, 6ohms should be fine. The power transfer on your rear speakers is not going to be as efficient as the power transfer to the impedence matched speakers, but that's by far the lesser of two evils. Surrounds tend to not do a whole lot, so you should be in fine shape.

I've got a 4ohm center and the other four are 6ohm but my receiver only has a 6 or 8 ohm setting... hehe.
