Just looking for some good sites (paid or non paid) to get 5.1 music in Mp3 format.

The only nice one I've found is www.all4mp3.com so far.

There must be other paid or free services to get mp3 5.1 music...???

last time I checked, the mp3 format only supported two channels. It's just going to be software virtualization.

the mp3 format only allows 2 channels. for true surround and not software virtualization, you're going to need a different format such as AAC, AC-3 or vorbis.

even if you have a surround capable format, you'll only get real surround if you somehow rip a multichannel dvd audio disc:p no site i know of sells that. and u won't for a while. the music industry hates internet downloads paid or not. its why they drag their feet. they'd rather you pay for a bundle of songs on an album instead of picking and choosing.

Whew!
Well...
Give yourself a treat.
Go to all4mp3 music
DL the FREE "mp3" 5.1 tracks.
Burn them onto a data cd-r
Play them in your 5.1 home theater dvd/cd/mp3 (mp3 supported) systems dvd player
and you'll get great 5.1 audio.

You can also burn the mp3's into-onto a music CD if your player doesnt support playing mp3 files off a CD-r. But I think making a CD-r data disc with the 5.1 mp3's sounds cleaner & better.
( you can also DL mp3surround sound PC players FROM THE SITE LINKS to use with PC 5.1 audio cards/speakers, which I do not have)

NOTE from website (edited):
All songs on this page are multi-channel tracks that have been encoded in mp3surround. When these files are played on a "normal" mp3 player, you will only hear a stereo downmix. However, when these tracks are played back using the mp3surround player and any 5.1 capable speaker setup, you will enjoy the true mp3surround listening experience.

New to me too. In my searches for 5.1 music downloads I came across this article "saving mp3" that I glanced at. It was this guy who developed creating the mp3surround sound Mp3's and info on it. Sorry, no link.

PS... You might want to try these toys also

Mp3Surround demo software

(check out the "MP3" 5.1 channel ID file download at the bottom of the page - for those non believers)

Live and learn?

Sounds like an ad to me buddy.

Everyone has already told you the limitations of the codec, and that there are other codecs out there that DO support 5.1 discrete channes and that making it worthwhile requires 5.1 channels of source material available before the encoding process.

BTW, I haven't clicked on your site, but it says "mp3surround" and explains that it is a proprietary format.

Basically, it might rely on mpeg, but it is no "mp3"

btw, here is the codec

@fraunhofer
MP3 Surround enables high-quality surround sound at bit rates comparable to those currently used to encode stereo MP3 material. It is backwards compatible to stereo MP3; a legacy MP3 device plays back MP3 Surround as high quality stereo.

Ensonido is a supplement to MP3 Surround decoder which allows playback of 5.1 surround sound over stereo headphones. More information about this latest development by Fraunhofer IIS is available on www.ensonido.com.

MP3 SX converts two-channel content into surround. MP3 SX achieves a stable localization of vocalists and solo instruments even off the sweet spot. Additionally, MP3 SX presents the feeling of envelopment by analyzing the ambience sounds already present in the stereo source. MP3 SX supports a seamless transition from stereo to surround sound.
