Friend and I went looking around Best Buy and both of us thought about buying it, well after watching some people play, we both bought it. It is a very fun, addictive game not to mention because we both bought the guitar, we were able to duel on it which is a lot of fun.

Got 70 bucks, it's worth getting.

I got mine from Walmart for $25!!! It was in the clearnca section.
For those without PS2's you'll be able to play on your PC soon.

Guitar Hero 2 is already in the works. So hang onto your guitar controllers.

After Samba De Amigo, DDR, Donkey Konga, BeatMania, Taiko Drum, DrumMania, etc, it should really no longer be surprising that these "Bemani" type games are fun. These days I'd be surprised to hear that one is NOT fun.

I think the Wii controller is perfectly suited for these types of games.
I wonder if they'll release a home version of Boonga Boonga

Yep, it'll have bass lines and rhythm lines also so both people aren't playing the same guitar lines at the same time. Can't wait.

Can't help much with Guitar Hero, but there is a free, open source DDR clone called StepMania available.

Yeah, i've looked at it and i am too lazy to set it all up :)

the amount of research people do into the pads themselves alone scares me

Not much to it, really. Thing is, you've probably already got a PC, and the software is free. As a result, you can get a higher-quality pad like a Red Octane probably for less than a PS2 + DDR + crappy foam pad.

Yeah it's pretty astounding. I'm actually going to build my own pad this summer since it seems like a fun project using both elementary woodworking and electronic skills.

Well my wife bought a PS2 and Guitar Hero for me for my birthday, and i gotta say it's at least as much fun as Donkey Konga! Seriously addictive if you like this kinda thing

Anyone else notice that when you're done w/ a song everything you look at seems to move up kinda? I had the same thing happen with donkey konga except everything seemed to move to the left for a short while

I wonder when they will adapt Para Para Paradise to consoles. That's a really fun game too.

I haven't tried GH yet, as I'm not really a guitar fan, but I've had Daigasso! Band Brothers (bought in Japan for DS) for about a year and it's still my favorite DS game. I play it constantly even after all this time.

I liked GH alright, but it's not that fun or addicting IMO. I play it like once a month now and usually only play for a short time. It's a good game, but has failed to 'capture' me liked i hoped it would. Thanks for the link to Freetar Hero, hopefully that project works out, despite having a dumb name :p - Wonder why it took so long for people to make a PC simulator for GH.

Finished up with the hard difficulty and started working on elite. This game is addicting, and my wife loves it too. Cant wait for the 2nd one to come out.
