Surprised at GF4mx440

I was very board last nite and I stumbled across the Doom III alpha and I decided to see how my system performed. I had tried playing it once before on my old AMD 2000xp / GF4 ti 4200 rig and I averaged around 20 fps at most, at default settings. With my current rig, 2.6c@3.03ghz, gf4mx440, I tweaked a couple things that i saw tweakable in the config, and lowered the resolution to 512, and i actually get a steady 30-40fps. Nothing big, but all I can say is, even as an alpha, and having that enhanced of an engine, 30-40fps on this horrible card is a lot more then i expected. Before i started tweaking the settings, at default settings, it was horribly sluggish. Got about 10fps if that at the MOST, at times it would even be so laggy sound was delayed. Might be a useless post, but to me this is a big sigh of releif. If a GF4mx440 can pull 40 fps in an alpha, I can only imagine what a 5900 / 5900 Ultra would pull on my current rig. This game is seriously going to be AWESOME when its finally done, and I'm more then sure its going to run much better when released compared to the alpha.

how dare you put an MX card in the same box as a overclocked P4C? Whats the point? your videocard is so horrible it bottlenecks your system to a 900mhz athlon POS hah

i know a few people with 3.0C+ with geforce 4 Mx's. they arent gamers so they dont need fast video cards but they do a lot of encoding and video editing so they need the fast CPU...

Because we all know leaked alphas are the PINNACLE of performance testing.

no, but atleast he can get some idea of how it will run. even though it may not be a very accurate indicator, it is better than nothing
