after reading all these stories about how people were scammed on ebay, and paypal not refunding them any money....i felt i should write about what happened to me.

i purchased a audiovox PPC-6700 PDA phone on ebay from a reuptable buyer (1000+ feedback, 98% positive). After I had paid via paypal, I contacted him regarding shipping, and he responded a day or two later saying it was going out that day. The phone didnt arrive the next day (UPS said it should be 1 day via ground since we were so close). Later the next day, I got a shipping notice from UPS and the phone arrived the day after so it wasnt a big deal even though he actually shipped it the day after he said he did.

but anyways....i get the phone and try to activate it on sprint. sprint informs me that this phone cannot be activated, as it is tied to a fraudulent account (note: the phone was avertised as new in box...compatible with sprint service).

i went ahead and filed a complaint with paypal, which gave him 10 days to respond to my issue. He did not respond during these 10 days, and I just received an email from paypal stating that they have refunded the entire purchase back to my credit card.

so +1 for paypal. if I had not paid with paypal and had sent a money order instead, it would of been a much more difficult situation trying to recover my money.

Paypal always sides with the buyer, that's why your situation had a good outcome. It's all of us sellers that have the horror stories (yes, I got scammed out of $170 last year).

did you buy the buyer protection option on paypal or does paypal give your money back if ebay doesnt work as its supposed to?

the guy had enough transactions done on ebay/paypal that anyone who purchased from him was automatically qualified for $1000 worth of paypal buyer protection if you paid with paypal.
