Surge Protector

I've been using the Stratitec S3200MS surge protector, with modem protection. The AC surge dissipation,1020 joules. The modem, on a separate ciruit, has a 140 joules rating.
I keep the computer plugged in, and the phone line hooked up to the computer, but, usually turn the computer off at night. We get a lot of thunderstorms this time of year, and, a month ago, at night, we had a bad one, and, the surge protector modem protection stopped a surge, but, blew the fuse in the protector. Same thing happened the other night, after I replace the surge protector.
I'm happy that the surge protector saved my modem, but, it sure would be nice if I could simply replace the fuse in the surge protector, or, find one that had a breaker, or reset switch, for the modem protection.
Quesion: if I went with a higher joules rating on the modem ( this one has 140 joules protection) would that help, or, do they make a surge protector, in which I can replace the fuse myself, when it blows? Or, that uses a reset switch? I took the back off the current surge protectors I use, and, the fuse is soldered to the ciruit board, and, would not be very easy to replace.
