Couldn't resist the $585 deal at Best Buy. Picked up a SP3 to replace my SP2.

Yeah of course. You need two things:

1) $150 Off Surface Pro 3 edu coupon (free on Best Buys website if you have an edu email address, a few bucks on eBay otherwise)

2) 10% off single item Movers Guide coupon, costs $1.05 on the USPS website. You don't have to actually forward your mail, just go through all the steps until you can print the coupon, then cancel.

Best Buy usually has a one coupon per item limit, but if you can get the cashier to scan both coupons for the Surface great. Otherwise the trick is to have them ring up the Surface plus one other cheaper item, hand them the $150 Surface Pro coupon first, then hand them the 10% coupon and tell them its for the second item. It doesn't matter what you tell them, or what they do; the 10% off automatically gets applied to the higher priced item (the Surface). If they don't pay too much attention you'll be getting the i3 Surface for $585.

Yeah it's not guaranteed that they'll take it, which is why the Slickdeals thread is marked 'YMMV'. But chances are if you go to a different store or even a to a different person checking you out, you will get it. Because the system allows it, you only need to find someone who would do it for you.

btw not sure if I posted this or not, but at some point my wifi ate the shit. couldn't connect to anything, and when it would, wouldn't xfer more than 17kb/sec. had to do a hard reset, when I was prompted for system upgrades I avoided the firmware patch. Not sure how I feel about this.

My first store also refused. Luckily the next nearest store was only 15 minutes away.

I have 8 Best Buys within a 30 minute drive from my house. YMMV = "try again at another Best Buy".
