Wanted to share some pretty good deals on the latest-gen Surface Pro 3 in time for back-to-school for many folks. Given the SP3 just released coupled with the fact MS doesn't really discount them until they are replaced with a newer model, I think these are pretty good deals.

From lowest to highest discounts:

  • 1) 10% off at MicrosoftStore.com for students and teachers: http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en_US/cat/Education/categoryID.63433700

This is a running discount at MS store but it often excludes the latest products including Surface Pro. SP3 and all accessories are good for the discount though. I am not sure how strenuous Microsoft Store's validation process is for hardware, but you can get the price to show up by just selecting your school. I know for the software discount however, they require .EDU email link validation.
  • 2) 10% back in Rewards at BestBuy with BB card: Standard credit only (no financing), this is basically a double rewards offer from BB, but it is accessible to any BB credit card holder. This is good until September I believe. They also have a $50 trade-in credit for any working non-Nook tablet.
  • 3) 15% off Technology at Staples: In-Store only with coupon

I have verified this works with SP3 and all Surface accessories. Bank of America cardholders can get another 10% back via their BankAmericard offers (varies by person, check your offers).
  • 4) YMMV Stacked Discounts: Price match to Microsoft first, then stack deals from BB or Staples on top. I think you have a better shot at doing this at BestBuy, you can print the page or show it on a smartphone in-store with the updated price with student discount. I think Staples no longer honors coupons if you price match, but may be worth a shot as the upfront 15% discount by itself is very strong, so if you get shot down on the PM you still get 15% off. You may also need a Microsoft store within 25 miles to qualify for PM (this is BB's policy).

Reviews of the SP3 overall are very good, I picked one up and think its a great device as the SP3 addressed most of the flaws and shortcomings compared to the SP1/2 (thickness, screen size, weight, battery life, kickstand). Price is still higher than I would like, but that's where these deals come in! So if you're in the market for something to bridge your tablet devices and laptop, this may be the answer for you.

awesome, i have sp2 pro now and have sp3 at work, looking to buy it for myself..

it is really good on vacation, light and fast for working back to the office.

Staples typically won't apply a coupon after a PM, but it's still a good option. Combine w/ 5% back as staples rewards, and if you have a Chase Ink card or Amex Simply Cash it's another 5% back on the card.
