I really want something sort of powerful that I can use as a tablet laying down in bed, but can also use as a laptop to work in Word and Excel, play games (not too graphics intense, like Civilization and Company of Heroes 2, those sorts of things). The Microsoft Surface line looks pretty good to me. Thoughts about the different modeis?

The Surface Go is probably too weak.

The Surface Pro X with the ARM processor I would worry about with potential incompatibility.

The Surface Book 3 looks like it is a few years old and is EXPENSIVE.

The new Surface Pro 8 seems the Surface to get?

And what about alternatives? Any one have suggestoins? Again, preferably ones that can work just fine as a tablet, and run windows games and work programs, and attach a keyboard easily.

Thanks for any help!!!

The Surface Pro 8 is great. I use a Pro 7+ as my daily driver for web browsing/programming and occasional older games like RTS. It's fast when plugged in but also light enough to carry around in one hand. The fan is noisy (only on the i7 versions) but only turns on when the CPU gets loaded. The keyboard and pen are pricey but are often available cheaper on ebay. There are also Dell and Lenovo versions of it that are pretty similar.

I know you didn't list it but I have a Surface Laptop 2 that I use all the time in bed. In fact I think it's easier than a tablet since the screen stays at the angle I need it. I've had it about 3 years and it's been absolutely flawless. Battery life could be better but that's about it.
