Surface 3 Pro Not Booting

3 year old sfc. Was working well until this past week. I often don't boot up for several weeks on end. Went to boot up this past week and will not. Get to Surface logo screen, then the MS little rotating icon, then it shuts off. No error messages, nothing but black screen. Keyboard lights go on with the initial boot start. All attempts at hard reset failed. Charge light comes on with battery charger. Can get into UEFI without any problem.
Took it off the keyboard, pulled USB mouse receiver and tried again, no better.
Not really sure if this began following a windows update or not.
Wondering if a battery problem, screen problem, MB problem or what.
Haven't been able to find a post anywhere that is quite like this. Most refer to boot loops, or being hung up, or simply no power at all, or random restarts and/or powering down.
Any suggestions?

Can you use a bootable recovery / repair or Windows installation thumb drive?

No to either one.
So far, the only thing I can bring up is BIOS

For a USB stick, did you turn off secure boot in the BIOS, and make sure the USB stick was created to work with UEFI?

If it won't boot from a UEFI bootable USB stick even when you turn off secure boot in the BIOS then I think you're out of luck but maybe someone else has an idea.

Thanks for the links.
But no, that didn't work either. Got an interesting red screen effect, but still shut off after 2-3 sec of Windows rotating logo
