? I love it since the 8.1 upgrade. Phone version hasn't caught up yet but all others are good.

Really? "Play to" took a nosedive with Windows 8. I used to be able to play anything to my receiver, or multiple TVs around the house, or Xbox 360. Now I can sometimes get MP3s to play to the xbox, but not anything with DRM. Receivers and TVs aren't supported from xbox music.

It's garbage. The interaction between the devices should be a lot better since they're all totally controlled by one company.

I never really understood that with both Microsoft and Android. On my Mac stuff, I can shoot my iPhone, iPad, and Mac screen to a $99 AppleTV with full mirroring, no hassle. Microsoft controls Windows, the Xbox platform, Windows phones & tablets, etc. and nothing is "easy". Same with Android - the Chromecast is an awesome idea at $35 MSRP, but it's limited to like 7 supported apps right now, and if the page has any copyrighted content, you can't stream it (like Amazon Prime).

I don't understand why these companies don't get it...I know Apple gets a lot of hate for being overly simplistic, but their stuff also "just works" the majority of the time, which is awfully nice. Microsoft should buy Plex, license Airplay, and just get on with things haha.

Eh? I can shoot my Samsung output to my $90 Samsung Blu-Ray player no problem.

And for music AirPlay is, frankly, a crap solution compared to Play To.

Hmm... isn't it what's shown in this video for the Surface 2?
