System in my signature - Vista Ultimate 64

Supreme FX II card that came with with my Rampage II Extreme MB will not produce any noise, not a peep - tried several different jacks on the card and in the front, used a couple different sets of speaker and head phones.

According to the device manager it is working with Vista .High Definition Audio Device Drivers . When I try to install the Creative Sound Max drivers which tell me that there is no device installed...

1. Looked around - do not see any confilict with any other device (no yellow ? in device manager)

2. Unistalled and reinstalled drivers

3. Removed card, fired up system, re-install card

4. I have another from my Rampage Formula that is working fine, tried that and still nothing.

5. When I try to adjust the volume you can see where the system is producing a sound, but nothing comes out.

I am about to cap myself - Any ideas?

right click the speaker icon in the system tray. select playback devices. select the correct device for default, if necessary you can go into properties, and Advanced tab, and click test.

as for the RMA advice... just, no.

you said your have another Supreme FX card from your Rampage Extreme 1 try using new card from the Rampage Extreme 2 in the orginal Rampage Extreme 1 board and see if that works. This is a PCI-E sound card that needs go in the black PCI-E 1x slot & only works in that slot. If the Rampage Extreme 2 board won't let you load the creative sound max drivers & said "device not present" there is an issue with windows not seeing the card & you have not loaded the proper drivers to make the card work.
