Texas, in its effort to protect the health of women passed a new abortion law. But for some reason pro-abortion groups have challenged the law.

Planned parenthood asked the US supreme court to hear the case, but the request was denied.

What is the big deal about requiring abortion providers to have admitting privileges at a local hospital?

It seems to me that simple stuff such as hair salons have more restrictions than abortion providers.

If organizations like planned parenthood truly cared about womens health, why the uproar?

First, the Supreme Court didn't refuse to hear the case, they refused to block the law while an appeals hearing was pending. Second, this law does far more harm to women's health than protect it and is another attempt by moronic men on the right to push their will onto women's health decisions. It's disgusting.

Society no but women do somehow... :awe:

nehalem seems to believe that any time in which men are not given massive preferential treatment over women that it's society attacking the rights of men. I have come to believe he's our own version of Ed Gein with an overbearing mother and he now has serious mental issues in regards to women. Thank goodness we have the internet and he can vent his frustrations here rather than digging up bodies or other stuff the actual Ed Gein did.

What the fuck does that have to do with anything, except to remind us all of your uncontrollable misogyny?

I am pointing out the hypocrisy of throwing a fit every time someone tries to "control" women.

Society tries to control men. Society tries to control women. Get over it.

Ok, point to a law passed on the state, local or federal level in this country in which men's rights and only men's rights are restricted and you'll have a basis to discuss.

The Draft.

QED

There you go, that's one. Yes, selective service should be updated to require women to also register. Hopefully it's getting there. But until recently women were not even allowed to serve in combat positions and the draft hasn't been instituted since that time, so as of yet it hasn't been an issue, but should be corrected.

How many would get an out patient surgery (knee, rotator cuff...etc) from a doctor that didn't have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital?

I think the more fair question is, is there a law requiring doctor's performing other kinds of surgeries, at non-hospital locations, to have similar admitting privileges.

You do realize that you can abort an embryo with a pill, don't you?

These doctors don't have admitting privileges because there is no reason for the hospital to give admitting privileges to a doctor who is not performing surgery...

You realize that this has nothing to do with outpatient surgery, right?

The requirements are not for doctors performing surgical abortions, they are for doctors dispensing abortion medications as well. As for your question of whether or not I would take prescription pills from a doctor without admitting privileges at a nearby hospital the answer is: Of course. What kind of idiot wouldn't?

Interestingly enough, medication abortions are so exceptionally free of complications that this is in and of itself an impediment to those doctors getting admitting privileges. Many hospitals have a minimum admitted patient requirement per year in order to have such privileges. Doctors at such clinics frequently have too few patients with complications to meet that standard.

Serious question: Does a single person here honestly believe that the purpose of these regulations is to protect the health of women seeking abortions?

There's restriction for giving pills that induce an abortion, they can continue doing such. They can't perform the abortion procedure without having admitting privileges at a near by hospital.
