I didn't think he'd do it. Should he follow through, my hat is off to Justice Breyer and thank you for your service.

Waiting for Republicans to say it's too close to the next election, or some other bullshit excuse for why Biden shouldn't be able to nominate a new justice.

Biden needs to do that ASAP.

Edit: Ninja'd!

Don't worry, Manchin will just want what he calls a "centrist" which will actually be a moderate conservative.

Sinema and Manchin will likely easily play ball on this. Both have confirmed loads of judges without issue, including the most likely person to be nominated.

Except the Dems are using changes made by the Pubs against them for judicial appointments, this even works out for the SCOTUS nominee.

How Senate Dems reaped the benefits from 2 little-known GOP maneuvers - POLITICO

Senate Democrats lost their fight to weaken the filibuster, but they're capitalizing big on another rules change — that the GOP pushed.

After an Obama administration marked by Democratic frustration over the pace of judicial confirmations, the party is making notable progress on approving President Joe Biden's picks for the federal bench thanks to a 2019 Republican move to speed up the confirmation of most presidential nominees.

Although the change benefited Republicans at the time, it has allowed Democrats to confirm judges during Biden’s first year at a pace that was last rivaled by former President Ronald Reagan’s initial 365 days in office.

Thank God Breyer figured it out.

Republicans will bitch and moan but just ignore them and push through 1 day quicker then ACB.

Some suggestions. Each one would piss off the Republicans

Hillary Clinton
Michele Obama
Eric Holder

You know Fox, who has nothing but negative distain for a certain VP. That's who they wish would be picked for the selection. I wonder why?

You mean slide Harris out of VP to SCOTUS? Seems that move would work for Dems. Biden can pick a more likable VP that could run in 2024. Harris gets the top law job for life.

This presumes Harris still does not have ambitions of her own, which seems unlikely.

Ketanji Brown Jackson is the front runner for the seat. Biden interviewed her personally for the DC Circuit court and was approved by all Dems and three Republicans.

I guess he's learned from RBG's last mistake.
(I have wondered if the approach of those two Irish guys who tried to claim the pension money would work for these situations)

They should at least ask Harris.

I want a 30-something female, native-born, ex-endurance runner of Hispanic origin with zero family history of cancer, diabetes or heart disease. Max longevity please.

Afro-Asian-Latina vegetarian with a Jewish grandmother whose grandparents on both her mom and dads side are still alive and deep in to their 90's and the entire family have track and field medals from college as well as a power lifting trophy from 5 years ago.
She started out as a assistant DA who then move over to teach constitutional law while doing pro bono work as a defense attorney. Also holds 5 patents.

Make it happen
