Supreme Commander 2 Issues?

I'm hoping someone else has the same issue I'm having.

I have Windows 7 64-bit on the following rig:

AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition
MSI 785GM-E51
4gig ADATA DDR3 1600 (2x2gig)
XFX Radeon HD6870 Black Edition (Latest Catalyst Drivers - 11.3)
CoolerMaster 500W (For CPU/MOBO)
APower 850W (Dedicated to the Video Card)

The power supply thing is a long story... Basically I wasn't sure if the APower's 12v rails were enough to power both the CPU and the HD6870, so I put 2 PSUs in there. No big deal.

Anyway, the issue I'm having is that, when I start up the game and start up a skirmish or host a multiplayer game, every so often the game will freeze for about 5 seconds, then the screen will go black for about 5 seconds, and then it will come back up. In a multiplayer match, everyone else's machines stop for a second (because I'm lagged out). It gets to be pretty frequent and pretty annoying. Any recommendations?

If Supcom 2 the only game that's giving you issues? Have you tried another online game just to see if it's your internet connection or not? If it's in all online games, it might be a bad network card or you neat to update your network drivers.

If you have it through Steam, you can do the usual "Verify File Integrity" in the game properties.

The issue arises when I do a local skrimish match with me and a couple bots as well, completely offline. I've checked file integrity and everything checks out. No other "online" games do this either.

Played the game quite a bit and never had any such problems and my rig is much weaker than yours. Could you be having overheating issues or a loose graphics card or ram?? I have been having connectivity issues with steam lately, but doesn't seem like your problem is similar to the ones I was having.

BTW, most people don't agree with me, but I enjoyed the game. It may not have been as innovative or complex as the original game, but I played the single player campaign and skirmishes against the AI and my friend played quite a bit online, and we both thought it was fun for a while. I dont think he had any problems while playing online either.

Updated to the new ATI Drivers that were released yesterday (11.4) and haven't had the issue again yet. Let's hope the driver update fixed it 🙂
