Well I have a Supraexpress 56e V.90 serial modem. When I try to connect it will dial up then right before it gets to the end and is getting ready to log in it dials again. It does this twice before it finally loggs in @ 28,000-31,000.

Well I was thinking it was a problem with my phone line untill I reformatted my HD and redid windows 98SE. Well windows couldnt find any drivers to install my modem so it added some drivers default drivers for it.

Well when I connect with it using the default drivers it connects at 44,000+ everytime.

Anyone know whats up with this? Oh yeah after redoing windows 98 I decided to install the drivers for my modem and now its doing it again.

hmm thats weird as mine work just fine , amkes all the right sounds as it dials up and then connects @115,200 around 48k I would suggest trying to figure out if your isp supports your modems v.90 .
Or make sure your line is ok as i know this can be a major problem , when i moved into an old apartment the phone line was so bad it would take around 3 times making those sounds as it tried to connect correctly and when it did all i got was 9,600 at best.
I then phoned my telecommunications co' and then found out i had some serious line noise going off , a few days ltr i connected normally at 115,200/48k

That is a really strange issue! I guess all I can suggest is use the default drivers. Did the Supra drivers find the right modem and install the correct drivers?

Try downloading latest drivers from here, btw my own Diamond SupraExpress V90 56i connects at 49,333bps all the time, also check your port settings in Device manager, select Diamond modem, then select properties, then connection tab, then port settings & check the speed settings.
