Rally drivers use something near 20 different types of tires. The stock EVO tires aren't all weather tires.

Edit:
Just watched it, sounds like the EVO came with some dry weather tires while the others came with more proper tires. But it shows that AWD won't save your ass.

I watched a Trans Am race where they were just doing about 30MPH because there was puddles that were 3" deep on the track. Every guy out there was saying "Just end this thing!". 6 or 7 cars all collected in one place over the course of about 2-3 laps. None were near eachother, they just slide past a turn onto an access road and stayed there. They eventually called it because no racing was going on. Just people driving around miserably.

Not true. There is another race where they put professional Japanese tarmac drivers vs. professional rally drivers.
The DVD was fairly recent and the WRC driver was Gillz Pannizi or however you spell it, but is currently a Mistubishi WRC driver.
They raced using the same EVO and the WRC driver turned out to be the fastest by like .01 or something. However the race wasn't even due to tire ware.
Also it was probably the WRC driver's first time on that course.
I'm sure it would've been a close match between a tarmac and rally driver on a tarmac course in an EVO.
Anyways i'm sure the driver of that EVO is a professional driver, but only for tarmac.

You have never seen fast in the rain until the first time you have seen a full ground effects car in the rain. The old IMSA GTP cars would still pull > 1G on a fully wet track!
