Scary? Nah, just wet. The brakes on the Evo, that was scary.
You have never seen fast in the rain until the first time you have seen a full ground effects car in the rain. The old IMSA GTP cars would still pull > 1G on a fully wet track!

brakes? you mean the tires; those were what failed each time.

Whatever, they were racing on totally inappropriate tires. In heavy rain. It was ridiculous that they even kept at it for that long.
Missed that. If you have lost it, a quick stab like that lets you get it to 180 to regain control, albiet backwards, or force the full 360 to recover.Originally posted by: andylawcc

i wanna know why Tsuchiya pulled the e-brakes / hand brakes when a spin-out is imminent... does it make it stop better?

Edit - that being you are a rally driver and use it all the time. My first tendency is to counter-counter steer to make it go worse to make a 180/360 and then CPR (correct, pause, recover) as it comes to bear. The nice thing when you fully lose it is that you don't have all that energy in the springs that causes the hook slide (the PR in CPR). It always seems easy to recover a spin than a slide.
OT - freakest one of these I have seen personally was a Formula Continental during a race. Was at turn 2 at Road Atlanta when the FC did a full 360 in the middle of turn 1 following the track at about 90. Without skipping a beat, was back on full throttle the moment it was pointed race direction. I am sitting there waiting for turn 1 to call in the spin and go as it has to be logged. waiting, waiting... I finally went, "1, you going to call that?" "Call what?" They never saw it it happened so fast. It was even smoother than Danny Sullivan's spin and win during the Indy 500 decades ago.
