He "takes offense at Mr. Obama running for president"? Wow. What a tool.

How could one take offense at that?

Maybe his name? Saw a video yesterday where some folks said he was a terrorist because of his name maybe this guy agrees. I guess I'd be offended at a terrorist running for office if such a thing were to occur.

When it comes to scared middle America Obama has an uphill battle being both black and having a name that sounds an awful lot like Osama and a middle name that conjures bad images for most of them.

I'd bet money that if his name wasn't Obama the McCain camp wouldn't even be pushing this Ayers terrorist thing.

Some people will not and cannot suffer the idea of a black man in America being president. Simple as that.
As an aside, not surprisingly, the Ayers campaign strategy is all about tapping into this racism.

There are racists on both sides of the aisle and IMO the Ayers issue being dusted off smacks more of desperation than racism.

Welcome to AnandTech! :)

Thanks for the welcome, lurker for years...

I have no doubt that race still factors in all walks of American life, across all spectrums political and otherwise.

My point was that McCain's strategy, vis-a-vis Ayers strikes me as a good example of such, and people like this parking guy are well targeted.

I've been watching closely McCain's TV ads the last 3 days, and the take home message is crystal clear to me at least:

"Don't vote for Barack Obama because he is a black man."

To be more politically correct he should have put

"People with 100+ I.Q.'s cannot park here".

Covers the same group of people without being a direct attack ;)

Huh. You'd think with IQ's that high there would be more then 10% of them with high school diplomas. I guess geniuses dont need to finish high school eh?

;)

Most people who have a PhD vote Democrat.

Whatever, his lot, his sign, 1st amendment. He even said he wasn't enforcing it.

Its a good thing he isn't enforcing it, because then he'd be wading into discrimination territory.

I wasn't aware political affiliation was a protected class...

Only if your a Democrat. You should know that by now! The whole "Everyone is equal, some are more equal then others".

Another right-winger who stopped evolving their politics after the teenage reading of 'Animal Farm'.

While I think we can learn some things from socialism that are good, the arrested development righties like this one just need some enemy for their childlike politics.

It's why they have to try to squeeze so many round pegs in square holes - democrats are 'socialists', Obama is a 'terrorist', democrats only want to surrender to enemies, etc.
