Because I'm tossing up between a Seagate (w/ NCQ) and a Hitachi, so if it doesnt support NCQ, id rather go with the faster Hitachi.

I thought it had been demonstrated several times already that NCQ doesn't have much benefit unless you're constantly accessing your hard drive. Not too sure though; I'd search around here some more if I was you.

Fixed ;)

NCQ does nothing for desktop performance, in fact it even reduces performance in some tests! :)

It doesn't look like it- go find the manual (PDF format) and Search for NCQ, TCQ, native, tagged, command, queueing. No hits.

I'd say not, and you really don't need to make it a priority. Besides, I'd take the Seagate over the Hitachi.

Because the Seagate drives have proved themselves over time to be quiet, fast and cool-running.
The days of the Hitachi "meow" (thermal recalibration noise) are over apparently, but I still don't trust IBM/Hitachi stuff.
