SuperPi 1M in under 10 seconds

"stores in 3 weeks"....yeah right....

I dont see that happening.....

other than that...I dont run superpi as a daily app so it means little for me....

I want to buy one but I dont see 5ghz as realistic for me or that I will be able to get it in 3 weeks...

Ah so 5Ghz isn't outstanding because it's on LN2? WTF kind of standards are those? So an FX62 overclocked isn't outstanding unless it's at 3.7 Ghz on water?

I think 5.2 Ghz is sweet sweet sweet. Sweeter than a grape jolly rancher covered in warhead powder.

So what does one accomplish after a half hour has passed and all your LN2 is gone? 😉 Like I said it's interesting, but no more any other processor on LN2. The functionality of the rig is limited. I would even be more excited about phase change, as you can have it running for longer amounts of time.

The LN2 tests has it's merits as it shows the chip has some great OC headroom. Though the methods that it requires to hit those limits is a bit over the top, and certainly not something the masses could ever hope to attain.

It's not for 24/7 use. LN2 is to set records. It has nothing ot do with functionally. Overclocking with subzero isn't for practicallity, it's for fun, and to see how far you can go. This is awesome, and amazing.

Extreme cooling only shows the theoretical limits of the architecture. I have to agree with TGS that 5 ghz on phase change would be a much bigger accomplishment than 5 ghz on LN2. At least you can keep the phase change running for 24/7.

my accomplishment... using that ln2 pot,, put regular water in it, then stir in some instant coffee. drink that crap. readd cold water and game all night.

You don't? Man I run that all the time!

I'm tired of seeing all these threads on the amazing overclocking abilty without being able to buy one myself 🙁

I might have to kill somone if they delay the release of this processor.

I don't think extreme cooling even shows that.

So what exactly is extreme cooling showing us? It is showing the most practical limits of the chip when put under the most optimal cooling conditions. Each cooling stage "Air>Water>Phase>LN2" each give a plateu for a chip to reach the desired speeds at the given voltages. It does show you the OC headroom, as you can take the testing done from prior cooling types and estimate fairly accuractely where your speed plateu will be.

You can only play with the frequency or add more voltage on a chip before the lesser cooling types will not be enough for to sustain operations. With that said anything beyond phase typically falls into the "Interesting" category as it's not a computer you can leave running all the time. It's great for the suicide screenshots, and it is impressive to see people get the chip up to the speeds. At the end of the day the amazing rig is turned off, or you have some guy dumping in more LN2 to actually use the thing.
