Out of nowhere early this morning, my dual Xeon III 500 1MB server had locked up. The mobo is a Supermicro S2DGE. Other specs - Supermicro 760A case w/Sparkle 300W PS, 128MB stick of Crucial PC100 CL-2 ECC RAM, V2-1000 vid card (with ATI card as passthrough), 3COM 3c590 NIC, OS = win2K advanced server.
I hard-booted, it started up again, but with 6 beeps. The manual says this is one of those gate A20/keyboard controller errors (AMIBIOS). Searching around for info here and elsewhere suggests that generally, these are soldered-in parts (or part of a chipset), and neither the manual (nor Supermicro's site - at least from what I could find) offered any clues.
So is my $300 board toast (this box is almost 2 years old and home-built)?
(/me fears the answer)
