Say what you will, but Singer didn't want a big name in the role...I don't know who's telling the truth, but I got that issue of EW...I actually likeNic Cage, but him as the man of steel? please.

I'm totally psyched for the movie, especially after the disaster that was X3.

Because this movie looks lame!

Superman's Parents: "We think the Earth is deserving so we sent them our son."

What kinda BS is that?!?!

I'll probably have to see it just because Kevin Spacey is portraying Lex Luther.

i'm sure there were also many big names that got rejected (but say they turned it down as an excuse).

that is part. but there was a site that had more of the backstory. Guess there was 2 guys that was sopposed to make the movie. they recieved like 10 million and didnt do a squat. but they owned the rights to the movie and wouildnt do anything with it. finally they sold it or lost it etc. then some guy wanted to make superman have glass over his chest etc. some weird stuff.

From what I've heard Nicholas Cage desperately wanted the part of Superman. Apparantly he's a huge fan. He looks like he maybe did a good job as Ghost Rider from the previews I've seen.

Yeesh. I'm so glad that they did things right with Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series, Justice League, and Justice League: Unlimited.

These films have just been a mess.

cliffs?

Movie producers with no clue or respect for the source material spent nearly a decade finding new and exciting ways to screwup Superman while they couldn't find a director or actor.

Examples of ways to screw it up:
- Black Matrix-like Superman outfit
- Lex Luthor as CIA Agent who is actually from Krypton
- Krypton new blew up and is in a civil war
- Superman more like Batman than Superman (Tim Burton)

f0ck me!

The directors are OUT OF this world. WTF were they thinking with some of their ideas? I've read about 1/20 of that big post so far.

I've lost all respect for Tim Burton, though. What a joke.

yeah it was pretty bad. EVERYONE knows what/who superman is. to drasticly change it would have been bad. the movie would have flopped

I can't beleive the studio wasted all that time and money on it.

I keep hearing that it cost $300million to make Superman Returns...is that including all the years that the studio fracked around with it and all the different producers, director and actors or just this movie by itself?

I wonder how much of that is just the Singer/Superman Returns portion. The last bit I saw in that long post involving cost was something like $225 million. So Superman Returns actually cost in the neighborhood of $75-$100million?
