I never accept nor respect the opinion of anyone who writes a "blog". He's just someone who can't hack it as a real movie critic and a "blog" gives him the illusion of having an opinion that matters or counts.
Bloggers can suck my @ss.

Now I can definitely see Spacey as Lex Luthor though.
I have to agree with you. People are are film critics are soooo out of touch with audiences. It's impossible for them to not be. They've watched so many films that their standards have become impossibly high. They've seen so many premises that they become novelty seeking and don't realize that what's a rehash for them is original for most people.Originally posted by: K1052
I have become increasingly convinced that the closer a person is to this industry the more jaded or self-delusional they become.
Not every movie is fvcking Casablanca, ET, Citizen Kane, or the Godfather. People who have been doing this stuff for a while tend to lose sight of the actual aim which is to entertain or tell a story to the general population not have a bunch of film students wanking off to the film because it is so great.
That is not to say that some horrendously bad films aren't made. The studios manage to green light some stuff that would make me jump up on the table and strangle the person responsible by their $300 tie if I was a major shareholder. Stealth comes to mind as one of the worst ideas of recent years. I mean did anyone at Sony actually read that tired, used up, badly clichéd and woefully predictable script before spending a few hundred million on it? Gah.

What I don't understand is why so many people seem in awe of the original Superman and Superman II. Those movies weren't great by any means and if anyone was ever a stiffer actor than Reeve, I can't think of who that might be. They were popcorn flicks, very corny, and I expect this one will be much the same; I just hope it's not much worse than the original Superman movies.
