I ahve a temporary MSI KM2M combo MB in the SLboy and the front 120mm fan is running at full speed constantly. When I had the Asus SLI MB in it is was extremely quiet. Why would it run so much with this MB?

As far as I know the fans in SuperLanBoy are not thermally controlled. So, they should always run at the same speed. Unless you insert a resistor (intentionally or not) in the way and reduce their voltage.

Are you sure it is not another fan that is louder?

How do you have the fan connected? The fan should be nearly silent even at full-speed, that's how mine is. I believe it runs at only 1200rpm, 38 cfm.

Front fan should be quiet at full speed. I used to hook it to a fanmate to lower fan speed but i didn't noticed any difference. Check if the fan conector you used is temperature controlled. The rear fan is much noisier. i used to hook it to +5V, but now i just use a quieter Vantec Stealth.

Thanks. It actually was the HDF that came with the retail Athlon. The funny thing is that the HSF on the cpu is so loud you can't hear the fron t LB fan or the new vantec fan put on the video card. Any recommendations on a quiet HSF for an Athlon XP 2400+?

Zalman 7000B AlCu. It works with almost all socket type.
Current in my Super Lanboy: Zalman 7000B AlCu HSF, Zalman VF700 AlCu for video card w/ fanmate, stock 120mm front, Vantec Stealth 120mm rear. It is very quiet. The loudest thing in the setup is the PSU fan (140mm) and that's because the fan speed control in the PSU is faulty (always runs at full speed 1400rpm)
