SuperDrive Broken?

User brought in this laptop to get it upgraded to newest version of OS X and wasn't aware of problem. At first I thought a CD was jammed inside because when I try to insert a CD it gets blocked like the drive is full. But if I put a business card in a little ways to pull up the dust cover I can see some piece of metal blocking the entrance. It is right in the center, where the "spring" I guess you hold up to get a stuck CD out. It also seems to be part of the drive, not a foreign object.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

I think the slot loading drives have a 'door' that swings up and holds the disc in place. Dunno if you can fix that, replacement drives are pretty cheap - http://www.centrix-intl.com/details.asp?productid=5129

My Superdrive would not accept discs. It felt like there was one in the drive already- but there wasn't.
Through the advice of a prev. poster, I simply shut down the computer, unplugged power cable, took out the battery, held down the power button for 5+ sec., put it all back together- and THIS time, I put a CD in the drive so that when I powered up, it would possibly recognize the CD in the drive entrance- AND IT DID!!!!! This seems to have "reset" the loading mechanism perfectly.

Hmm, that didn't work for me. I tried it a few times, no changes. I also tried clearing the P-Ram, that didn't change anything either.

I think I'm giving up and taking it into the apple store. Darn thing.

How hard are they to replace on my own? I have another laptop with a broken piece that I need to take in, would it be tough to move this drive into that laptop so I can do both at once? Or would that void my warranty?

Changing anything other than the HD or RAM on a Macbook technically voids the warranty (though, if your careful I assume they would never know)
