Supercharged my Miata!

I actually got it all running last saturday but took me a while to get my cardomain site up. Here it is. Supercharger pics are on the 3rd page.

I bought the supercharger used from someone for $1600. Took me about 12 hours to install. My friend helped with about a 1/3 of it but really needed more help which is why it took so long. I spread the installation out about 3 days.

The guy also included water injection, a boost upgrade pully and belt, and a boost gauge. I haven't put all that on yet though. I'll probably put the boost upgrade on once I get my timing controller and new fuel pump in the mail. It's currently at 6psi and the boost upgrade should bring it to 8.5. 😀😀

I'll probably need a new clutch though so I may hold off for a little while. Let me tell you though..... even with 6psi. The power is AWESOME! These stupid civic ricers don't have a chance. 😀

I used to bash Miatas until i had the chance to drive one. Lemme tell you, they're a blast to drive, especially in the twisties. Owning a Miata is like banging a fat chick...it's cool until your friends find out. Props for doing the work yourself.

Luckly for me my town doesn't have the same attitude on Miatas as you people do. Sheesh! I always get compliments on my car.... especially from the ladies! 😀 They are always asking for rides. Of course there is always the occasional asshole who gives me sh|t, but they are usually the ones in the Honda Civics with the gigantic wings, altezza lights and the huge fart cans. The usually shut up once I smoke their 90hp asses. For those that have been misinformed, the miata is not only a damn fun car to drive but it's a chick magnet. This is a GOOD THING!
 
yeah, I too used to hate the miata....

your kit looks very nice and not exaggerated (I think the rear can be a bit better though)
nice paint job. nice rims. excellent choice and combination.
 
Nice car, and props on the mods.

My only bitch about the Miata is that I'd like one with taller gearing for highway use, & not enough stock HP. Does anyone make rear end gears with a lower ratio for the Miata?
 
Very nice car!

In the local car club, we have a guy who runs a newer supercharged Miata. Hes pretty much got one of the best cars out there, depending on the course, its either him or this other guys Z06. Very fast car indeed!

Well if it really increases power by 40% as claimed then I would be at about 180hp. The boost upgrade is supposed to add another 20% power but I'm not sure if that's 20% of the 180 or not. 😕

Basically I need to wait until I can get it dyno tested.
 
I've seen the 5.0 swap, that's impressive. But either way, congrats on the install, and I hope you enjoy the newfound power. Be careful to make sure your engine gets enough fuel and doesn't lean out on the high end of the rpm curve, particularly when you go with the new pulley.
 
seriously guys...everyone calls Miatas gay until they drive one. I've only driven one once, and I'll never see them in the same light again.

I agree with both of those 🙁
maybe even keeping the current gears but adding an uber-tall 6th gear, like the Corvette...
 
At a Mustang show I went to one year, someone had dropped in a 5.0 out of a 88 GT into their Miata...that thing was crazy fast...which is good because it's harder for someone you know to see you in it if you are going fast...😉
