Super Tough decisions of mine.

I have a difficult descision to make. My current system is in my sig.

I have a 17" moniter right now that is in fair condition. I have a choice between getting an X1800XT and a gig stick of ram, or a Geforce 7800GT and a 21" Sony Triniton CRT.

My mind has been wavering between these two decisions for several days. On one hand, I get good game performance and a new super monitor, on the other hand, I get extreme game performance and improved system performance.

on noe hand, a 7800gt might suffer at 1600x1200 on your 21"(espically in newer games like , no the other hand you dont need another gig of ram.)

You will probably end up getting the X1800XT and the 21" Triniton eventually anyway, so decide which one you would rather have first, and then start saving for the other. If you have your heart set on an X1800XT, you will have buyer's remorse if you "settle" for the 7800GT. Therefore, I would find out if prices are more likely to drop in the near future for the X1800XT vs. the monitor, and get right now whatever has a more stable pricing history (my bet would be the monitor). Also, consider if your current video card will be a limiting factor in the games you plan to play.

No need for more ram right now.

Easily Trinitron plus 7800GT. You already have 1.5 GB of RAM, and the X1800XT isn't ALL THAT faster than the 7800GT.
