The GX is higher up the food chain in their SSD lineup than the GX2 if that's what you are asking. So price not being a factor the GX.

The 1916 firmware is generally better. That poster had a half full drive and then loaded 1916 firmware without cleaning the drive (Sanitary Erase). It will take some time for the TRIM and Garbage Collection to get the drive in order. I would suspect that the drive scores will improve over time (at least the OCZ's version seems to be).
