That's right folks, Castlevania is coming to Smash Bros! Nintendo revealed it in yesterday's Smash Bros Nintendo Direct.

Simon Belmont from Castlevania is playable, as is Richter Belmont from Rondo of Blood. Richter is what they're calling an "Echo Fighter" - basically a clone, just being up front about it. Not only that, but Dracula's Castle is a playable stage, with various Castlevania bosses appearing as stage hazards, including Dracula. Alucard appears in the game as an assist trophy. The game is loaded with no fewer than 34 music tracks from Castlevania, both classic tracks and new arrangements exclusive to Smash Bros.

Some other details about the game:

All past fighters are in the game. ALL of them. Everyone from Pichu to the Ice Climbers to Wolf O'Donnell to Solid Snake to Ryu to Bayonetta. Other new fighters revealed so far are Inkling Boy/Girl from Splatoon, Ridley from Metroid, and King K. Rool from Donkey Kong Country. New "echo fighters" so far are Princess Daisy (echoes Princess Peach), Chrom from Fire Emblem (echoes Roy), and Dark Samus from Metroid (echoes Samus). Including echo fighters, that makes 73 playable characters in the game.

They're bringing back a ton of stages, and introducing new ones. Total stage count is 103. Stages from Melee/Brawl receive an HD facelift, but stages from the N64 original have their original appearance preserved.

The game is packed with with music: over 800 tracks. The game can be used to play playlists of the music, even when the Switch is in sleep mode.

Game comes out 12/07/2018. I can't wait!

I'm pretty excited about this. Probably not as much as some because I haven't owned a nintendo console in a VERY long time, so I only played smash with the buddies that had it. I always had a blast with it though, and now that I have a Switch I imagine it could take over my life pretty easily. It helps that they seem to be cramming in pretty much everything from previous games that they can so I can still see most of the stages or characters I've missed over the years.

Yeah sounds like they've loaded this game full to the brim. Definitely interested to try Simon (and hope there's maybe one or two other Castlevania characters as well).

I hope there's some good mini-games, as that'd be a great for on the go where you might only have a few minutes to kill.

Not sure I'll be able to get the same enjoyment out of it that I did the first two (since they came out at about the best time, junior high and high school) when I had a close group of friends that played games all the time together (even my friends that play games now are all over the place, some PC, some Xbox, some PS, so there just isn't the same cohesion to playing).

Yeah, Smash & Kart were amazing to play with a group. Before that, we did Fusion Frenzy 2 on XBOX, that was basically a bunch of fun mini-games, and even non-gamers had fun playing them.

We play a lot of Space Team right now. Works on iOS & Android, for local play on Wi-fi or Bluetooth. It's one of those stupid but crazy fun games, haha.

I love crossovers <3
My favorite was probably in Rocket League, they added there crates and items from Batman and other cartoons. In general, playing with Rocket League items and Crates is great fun.
Did you know any RL shop where can I buy Rocket League items?
I really want play this game all of my time.
I think I'm so good at Smash Brothers because I have been playing Rocket League for a very long time and I'm a great driver 🙂
They should still introduce the Rocket League crates and items like in Smash- exactly the same as in Rocket Leauge.

So... Well done 🙂 You're welcome
